Fr. Robert Borre’, dies
Fr. Robert Joseph Borre’ died on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the age of 91 after a battle with leukemia.
He was born on December 4, 1934, in Evanston, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Anna Borre’.
After attending Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Glenview, Ill., Father Borre’ completed hishigh school studies at Loyola Academy in Chicago, and later attended St. Francis de SalesSeminary in St. Francis, Wis., and the University of Chicago. He completed his philosophicaland theological seminary studies at St. Francis de Sales Seminary.
He was ordained to the priesthood on May 28, 1960, by Bishop William P. O’Connor of Madison at St. Raphael Cathedral in Madison.
Following his ordination, Father Borre’ held the following assignments: Parochial vicar at St. Bernard Parish in Middleton, teacher at Edgewood High School in Madison, parochial vicar at St. Henry Parish in Watertown, parochial vicar at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Cassville, military chaplain at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas; military chaplain at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss; military chaplain at Thule Air Force Base (now the Pituffik Space Base) in Thule, Greenland; parochial vicar at St. Joseph Parish in Baraboo, pastor at St. Mary Parish in Briggsville, military chaplain for the U.S. Army National Guard; military chaplain atGlenview Naval Air Station in Glenview, Ill.; hospital chaplain at the VA Medical Center in Chicago, and parochial vicar at St. Stanislaus Parish in Milwaukee.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 9, 2026, at St. Colette Church,3900 Meadows Dr., Rolling Meadows, Ill., 11 a.m. Visitation will be held there immediately prior from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow at All Saints Catholic Cemetery in Des Plaines, Ill.
